About The Alleghany Foundation

The Alleghany Foundation was established in 1995 with $35 million in proceeds from the sale of Alleghany Regional Hospital. Since then, the Foundation has awarded $47 million in grants to improve the quality of life in the Alleghany Highlands of Virginia. The Foundation seeks applications in five focus areas Economic Transformation, Educational Attainment, Health and Wellness, Leadership and Civic Vitality, and Community Capacity with the goal of building upon the region’s wonderful assets to provide dynamic opportunities for all its residents. Assets of the Foundation currently are $60 million. (December 2013)

The Alleghany Foundation is now accepting grant applications for the Fall 2015 grant cycle.  If you are interested in submitting a proposal, you can access our electronic application through our website, www.alleghanyfoundation.org

Applicants must be a non-profit, tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization or eligible local government entity. For eligibility criteria, please review our application guidelines on our website.
